Fashioneer hosts Charity course for Widows in partnership with Qatar University Continuing Education

In collaboration with Qatar University’s Continuing Education Division, Fashioneer Academy proudly launched the charitable initiative:
“Teach Me to Live and Provide for My Family” – a 5-day intensive program dedicated to empowering widows and orphans through hands-on training in abaya making and fashion design.

Led by experienced fashion designer and trainer Iman Gaber, founder of Fashioneer and an industry expert with over 20 years of regional experience, this course provided not just a skill, but a path toward independence.

Program Overview & Highlights

  • Certified Training in sewing, pattern-making, and abaya design
  • Accredited Certificate issued by Fashioneer Academy
  • Free Sewing Machine and Tools gifted to each participant funded by our company
  • Ongoing Mentorship to support job readiness and entrepreneurship

Day-by-Day Training Breakdown

🧵 Day 1: The Foundation
Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of pattern making, including how to draw a basic pattern and creatively adapt it for their own custom abaya designs.

🧵 Day 2: Precision & Placement
The focus shifted to precise cutting techniques. Trainees learned how to deconstruct and position their patterns on fabric professionally, with special attention to accuracy and detail.

🧵 Day 3: The Cut
Each woman confidently cut her abaya fabric, applying what she had learned about fabric grain and alignment to ensure the best possible structure for sewing.

🧵 Day 4: The Stitch
With machines humming, the group worked on overlocking fabric edges and began assembling their abayas. The room buzzed with creativity as the designs took shape.

🧵 Day 5: Finishing Touches
Final construction, embellishment, and embroidery brought each abaya to life. Each woman proudly completed and received her professionally finished abaya — a true symbol of her hard work and growth.

A Stitch Toward Independence

Beyond the classroom, this initiative reflects Fashioneer’s mission: to invest in women’s futures by giving them practical, market-ready skills. These 20 participants didn’t just learn how to sew — they learned how to build a future.

By the end of the course, each woman walked away with:

  • A completed abaya she made herself
  • A sewing machine and toolkit
  • An accredited certificate
  • A renewed sense of purpose and possibility

Fashioneer Academy remains committed to offering continuous support to graduates, helping them pursue work opportunities or even launch their own fashion brands.

Because when you teach a woman a skill, you empower a family.
